Providing Texas with Efficient and Reliable Energy
TexGen provides Texans with around 1,500 megawatts of efficient and reliable electricity. That’s enough to power over 2 million Texas homes.
Crucially, our plants are fully dispatchable. This means that TexGen can control its output in response to grid needs. And that’s a key distinction between our plants versus wind turbines and solar panels, which can only run if there is enough wind or sunlight. Our efficient and reliable power plants help ensure that Texas has a resilient and reliable power grid.
TexGen Supports The
Energy Transition
Our flexible, natural gas-powered generation assets provide efficient power to the Texas power market. Crucially, all of our plants are dispatchable units, meaning they can produce more or less power as the grid requires. While renewable resources are undoubtably an increasing part of ERCOT’s future, to get there, renewables will need dispatchable power to assist at times of unexpectedly low wind or sunlight. TexGen’s power plants will be there to support the Texas grid over the coming years as it continues to transition into a larger renewables mix.
